Aside of this daemon, SSD Fan Control features a user-friendly application for monitoring and control. Whenever the SMC system resets to its default, SSD Fan Control takes over again to make sure that your system remains quiet.

The core of the system is a daemon that runs in the background and takes care of the fan management. It enables you to overrule the automatic fan control and manually configure the fan speed.

However it seems that Lobotomo FC changed default minimal Mac settings and now in smc, the minimal possible rpm setting for fans is much higher. I therefore wrote a script in the windows startup folder to delay by 20s the lauch of Macs Fan Control which worked well. Then I've installed smcFanControl 2.1 for MBP. When boot is fully completed (Boot Camp icon present in system tray and services lauched), manual lauch of Macs Fan Control is successfull. So I installed Lobotomo FanControl 1.1 program. I've started to play with setting fans speed manually on my Mac. In both cases the SMC system tends to go into frenzy and drive you mad with a loud fan. SMC fan control and default Mac settings. Sometimes reusing the external sensor is not possible or, as in more recent generations of iMacs, replacing the original hard disk breaks the system’s temperature monitoring. The SMC collects data from external sensors or by reading the internal hard disk temperature in a proprietary manner. Fan management in Apple systems relies on temperatures reported by the SMC system. IMac users who tweak their systems using 3rd party hard disks or solid state disks, are often surprised by an unpleasant aftermath: an annoyingly noisy hard disk fan.
